Art For Education 2023

November 16, 2023

A Collaboration Between The Real Impact and Forme Femine - Empowering the Girl Child Through Education

In the spirit of empowering girls and fostering their education, Forme Femine is partnering with The Real Impact to host an online art exhibition, "ART FOR EDUCATION 2023." This collaborative effort aims to raise funds for the Equipped to Learn initiative, which will provide period care kits to girls in public schools in Lagos, Nigeria.

The Real Impact's Annual Art for Education fundraiser has made significant strides in transforming lives by equipping 6,000 students in public primary schools across three Nigerian states in just two years. This year, the focus shifts to addressing period poverty, a critical issue that disrupts the educational journey of millions of girls in Africa.

Period poverty, the lack of access to sanitary products and menstrual hygiene education, is a prevalent issue in Nigeria. Over 37 million women and girls of reproductive age lack access to these essential resources, leading to missed school days, increased health risks, and diminished academic performance.

Through this collaboration, The Real Impact and Forme Femine aim to address this critical issue by providing girls with the resources they need to manage their periods effectively and continue their education without interruption.

The online art exhibition will showcase the work of talented African artists, while also raising awareness about period poverty and its impact on girls' education."We are excited to partner with Forme Femine to bring this important initiative to a global audience," said Karen Abah, Founder of The Real Impact. "Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of countless girls who are affected by this critical issue and support them in their educational pursuits and in realizing their full potential."

"We are honoured to be a part of this meaningful collaboration, as it speaks to our focus at here at Forme Femine which centres the experiences of African women." said Charlene Chikezie, Founder of Forme Femine. "Art has the power to inspire and connect us, and we believe that this exhibition will not only raise awareness but also generate the necessary support to make a real impact on the lives of girls in Nigeria.

The online art exhibition will open on December 3rd, 2023 on Artsy - the world’s leading marketplace for art and will feature a diverse range of artworks from emerging and renowned African artists. The exhibition also offers art enthusiasts an opportunity to support a worthy cause while acquiring unique and inspiring pieces.

Proceeds from the exhibition will go to the Equipped to Learn initiative, ensuring that up to 2000 girls in Lagos have access to period care kits and menstrual hygiene education. This collaboration represents a significant step towards breaking down the barriers that hinder girls' education and empowering them to thrive.

Together, we can make a difference in the lives of countless girls, allowing them to continue their education, pursue their aspirations, and reach their full potential.
