Traditional Visual Art (Scribbling)

Based in Lagos, Nigeria, Awarun Adeshope is a contemporary Scribble artist whose pieces express the conflicting ordeals women continuously face.
Adeshope incorporates his skills as a graphics designer and material engineer, using pen to delicately line artworks and portraits.
He started his journey into creating stunning artworks through a self-developed scribbling technique at age 17, after exposure to various renowned artists like Kelvin Okafor, Laolu Sebanjo and the famous Vince Low.

He adopts traditional art methods to express the beauty of a woman’s body in every light presentable, while de-emphasizing the element of sexuality
In line with this art form, Adeshope has exhibited four bodies of work titled, “Battle Queen” (2019), “Euphoria” (2019), “The Maiden” (2019) and “Solitude” (2019).
The inspiration behind his art lies in the prejudice and culture orientation in the Nigerian society attributed to the emotional, physical, and psychological aspects of the modern day woman.
He voices his thoughts and appreciation on how beautiful the female figure is through visual representation.
Adeshope creates his art pieces with materials such as acrylic, charcoal, ink, and occasionally, a simple pen and paper.
With every piece he draws, Adeshope expresses his thoughts in narratives that accompany the art, seeking depths of appreciation beyond aesthetic surface level.
Adeshope aims to create more amazing pieces of artwork which will be exhibited in upcoming exhibitions and fairs.
